PUBLIC DATA

There are two types of geophysical data available for exploration purposes. One available free of charge (i.e., public domain data) and the other are private data (i.e., proprietary, non-exclusive or multi-client data) owned by private companies and they are available for a price. The public domain data are released by governmental agencies such as the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC), US Geological Survey (USGS) and NASA. These data are in general of good quality because they are processed, maintained and regularly updated by highly qualified people. The private data on the other hand have different qualities ranging from poor to good and the poor one need to be checked well before making any purchase. Multiphysics Imaging Technology can help its clients with this regard by recommending trusted data brokers and selecting reliable and valid data for their projects.

Over the past few decades, governmental agencies and organizations have been releasing massive amounts of data on the Internet for the public to access and use free of charge. These public domain data include gravity, magnetic, EM, gamma-ray spectrometry, topography, bathymetry and remote-sensing that are acquired from land, sea, airplanes and satellites are very useful for oil, gas and mineral exploration because they provide useful information about the geology and structure of potential exploration targets. Although these data are available free of charge their quality and resolution, in some cases, are comparable to private or spec data and they can be used for detailed (prospect size) or for reconnaissance (basin size) types of exploration. However, it would be a major challenge for a person not familiar with these data to find, download or convert the data to an appropriate form to work with or to fit with their area of interest.

Multiphysics Imaging Technology have a strong knowledge and experience working with these type of data including: downloading, editing, rectification, processing and interpretation and therefore we can help our client to download the best set of data for his area of interest.
