Hassan H. Hassan, M.Sc., Ph.D., P.Geoph.
Senior Geophysicist & Director
Hassan has over 30 years of industry experience in mineral and petroleum exploration. He received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in geology/geophysics, both from University of Baghdad, Iraq. After receiving a scholarship from the Iraqi Government, Hassan continued his studies in Canada where he obtained a Ph.D. degree (1984) in geology/geophysics from the University of New Brunswick. In 1984, Hassan worked as a research scientist in the Department of Surveying Engineering (currently, Geomatics) at the University of New Brunswick on remote sensing data applications to mineral exploration. In 1985, Hassan joined the Department of Geology at the University of New Brunswick as a postdoctoral research associate working on a five year multi-phase project related to uranium exploration in New Brunswick that was sponsored by the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). Afterward, Hassan worked on several projects related to mineral exploration using different geophysical methods including gravity, magnetic, EM and gamma-ray spectrometry for the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources & Energy, the Atlantic Geoscience Center, and EMR Microwave Technology. In 1996, Hassan has joined GEDCO (Acquired by Schlumberger) as a senior geophysicist. In 2008, Hassan had joined FUGRO’s Gravity and Magnetic interpretation group as a senior geophysicist and in 2013 he moved on to CGG after they acquired the Geoscience Division of FUGRO and he continued working there until 2017.
